The 2 euro commemorative coin issued by Monaco in 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the principality's admission to the United Nations (UN). This coin is struck in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality. It is made of bimetal, weighing 8.5 grams and with a diameter of 25.75 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a representation of the world map. A dove holding an olive branch in its beak, a universal symbol of peace, is superimposed on this map. The word "MONACO" is inscribed at the top of the coin, followed by the inscription "1993 ADMISSION À L'ONU 2013", commemorating the historical event.
The reverse of the coin is common to all 2 euro coins in circulation. It features a map of the European continent, designed on a dynamic background composed of the twelve stars of the European Union. The face value of "2 EURO" is also indicated.
The edge of the coin is reeded and includes the inscription "2 **" repeated six times, oriented alternately from bottom to top and top to bottom.
The coin was engraved by Luc Luycx. This commemorative coin highlights the importance of Monaco's membership in the UN and its commitment to peace and international cooperation.
