This Venezuelan banknote, with a face value of 2 bolivares, was issued in 1989. It belongs to the AB series. Its dimensions are 115 mm in length and 55 mm in width.
The obverse of the note features a design dominated by dark cyan and gray, on a light blue background. On the right is the bust of Simón Bolívar, inspired by his representation at the National Pantheon. The word "BARRE" appears at the bottom of the bust. Two inscriptions in a semicircle frame it, indicating "BOLÍVAR" and "LIBERTADOR". On the left, the face value "DOS BOLÍVARES" is inscribed inside a guilloche, with a serial number above it. The value "DOS" is repeated in each corner of the note. The name of the issuing institution, "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA", is inscribed at the top left, while the payment clause "PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR EN LAS OFICINAS DEL BANCO" appears at the bottom.
The reverse of the note features a gray and white motif on a dark cyan background. In the center, the face value "DOS BOLÍVARES" is highlighted. The coat of arms of Venezuela is depicted on the right, while the value "2" is inscribed on the left. The name of the issuer, "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA", is repeated at the bottom. The value "2" is also present in each corner of the note.
This banknote commemorates Simón Bolívar, a Venezuelan general and statesman, an emblematic figure of the independence of several South American countries.
