The 100 gulden banknote from Suriname, issued in 1986, is a specimen from the P.133 a series. This banknote features a dominant purple color on a complex multicolored background. Its dimensions are 150 mm in length and 73 mm in width.
The obverse of the banknote features Anton De Kom (Cornelis Gerhard Anton de Kom, 1888-1945), a historical figure of Suriname, positioned on the left. On the right, a representation of the militia is visible, while a row of buildings adorns the bottom of the banknote. Inscriptions in Latin include "CENTRALE BANK VAN SURINAME" as well as the face value "HONDERD GULDEN". The date of issue, "1 JULI 1986", is also indicated, as is the name of the printer, "THOMAS DE LA RUE AND COMPANY LIMITED".
The reverse of the banknote features a toucan on the left, while a loudspeaker surrounded by people is depicted on the right. The watermark integrated into the paper also represents a toucan, reinforcing the visual identity of the banknote.
This 100 gulden banknote offers a glimpse into the symbols and personalities important to Suriname in the 1980s, while reflecting the typical design characteristics of banknotes of that era.
