This 2 euro commemorative coin was issued by the Principality of Andorra in 2018 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The coin is presented in official blister.
The coin is of bimetallic composition, with a center made of nickel brass and an outer ring of cupronickel. Its weight is 8.5 grams and its diameter measures 25.75 millimeters, with a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The central motif of the coin represents a series of seven steps, symbolizing the seven parishes that constitute the administrative divisions of Andorra. These steps form mountains descending towards a valley, where the name of the issuing country, 'ANDORRA,' and the year of issue, 2018, are inscribed.
The stairs are also designed to represent the branches of a tree, symbolizing humanity. Thirty leaves are attached to these branches, each representing one of the thirty articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The inscription '70 ANYS DE LA DECLARACIÓ UNIVERSAL DELS DRETS HUMANS' is engraved in Catalan around the central design, meaning '70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights'.
The edge of the coin is reeded and features the inscription of the number 2, followed by two stars. This sequence is repeated six times, alternating upright and inverted.
The mintage of this commemorative coin is limited to 75,000 copies in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality.
