Description
The 2017 Euro set from San Marino is issued on the occasion of World Water Day, an environmental theme celebrated every year on 22 March under the auspices of the United Nations. This day aims to raise awareness of the importance of this essential natural resource and the need for its preservation on a global scale.
San Marino, an enclave within Italian territory, is a state recognised for the quality and regularity of its numismatic issues. Although not a member of the European Union, the Republic of San Marino has a monetary agreement allowing it to issue its own euro coins, which are legal tender on its territory and are recognised throughout the eurozone. These issues are often distinguished by their artistic care and commemorative character.
This 2017 set brings together all the euro coins struck by San Marino for that year. The complete series includes the eight standard face values of the eurozone, ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros. The obverse of the coins features the national designs specific to San Marino, while the common reverse shared by all euro coins displays the cartographic representations of Europe defined by European standards.
The set is produced with a limited mintage of 13,000 copies, making it a relatively restricted issue. This limitation is characteristic of San Marino's issues, whose numismatic production is naturally constrained by the size of the country and the issuance policy of its monetary institute. Such a contained mintage contributes to the relative rarity of this set on the secondary numismatic market.
The official set packaging guarantees optimal preservation of the coins in their original condition, thus maintaining their strike quality and physical integrity for collectors and enthusiasts of international numismatics.
