This banknote is a 50 dong denomination issued in 1947 by the issuing institute of Vietnam. It is part of the PW 014 series and bears the number 032 BE. Its dimensions are 167 millimeters in length and 90 millimeters in width.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnamese political figure and President of Vietnam. The legend "VIET NAM DAN CHU CONG HOA" appears, meaning "Democratic Republic of Vietnam". The face value "NÂM MUOI ÐÔNG" is printed, translated as "Fifty Dongs". There is also the mention "50 GIÂY BAC VIÊT NAM 50", indicating "50 Silver Piastres of Vietnam 50".
On the back, the denomination "VIÊT-NAM DÂN-CHU CÔNG-HOA" is repeated, as well as the face value "50 GIÂY NÂM MUOI ÐÔNG". The background of the banknote is composed of complex ornamental patterns, typical of the monetary issues of that time. All inscriptions are written in Vietnamese, the official language of the country.
