The front of the banknote features a portrait of Ho Chi Minh, a Vietnamese political figure and president of Vietnam. Above the portrait, the inscription "VIET-NAM DAN-CHU CONG-HOA" is printed. Below the portrait, you can read "GIAYNAM DONG" followed by the face value "5".
The back of the banknote features the face value "5" as well as the words "NAM DONG". There is also the inscription "KIEU THU II".
