This year for the first time the Vatican Mint dedicates the rectangular silver 25 euro coin to Easter. The detail of the risen Christ depicted on the coin is taken from Pinturicchio's fresco "The Resurrection" in the Borgia Apartment in the Vatican Museums. The artist Antonella Napolione reproduced the image of Christ blessing wrapped in an oval of golden light rising above the tomb. The banner with the red cross on a white background to the left of Jesus is the symbol of the resurrection and represents Jesus' triumph over death in Christian iconography.
