This 2 euro commemorative coin was issued by the Vatican in 2015 to mark the 8th World Meeting of Families.
The coin is bimetallic, composed of a cupro-nickel center (an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel) and a cupronickel outer ring (an alloy of nickel and copper). It weighs 8.5 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters, with a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The theme of the coin is the 8th World Meeting of Families, an event that took place in Philadelphia, USA, from September 22 to 27, 2015. The obverse of the coin, designed by the artist Chiara Principe, depicts two families of different ethnicities embracing the globe. This image symbolizes the universality of the papal and Christian message.
The coin was minted in two distinct qualities: an uncirculated (UNC) version with a mintage of 110,000 and a Proof (BE) version with a mintage of 12,000. The coin comes in its official blister pack.
