 The Vatican celebrates the European Year of European Heritage by highlighting the Laocoon group, a famous sculpture from ancient Greece present in the collections of the Holy See. 

 The coin shows the statue of Laocoon and his sons, also known as the Laocoon Group, a fundamental work of ancient Greece for sculpture around the world and for the Vatican Museums. The name of the issuing country "Città del Vaticano" is engraved in the lower center. From left to right, the inscription "Anno Europeo Del Patrimonio Culturale" (European Year of Cultural Heritage) is visible in a semicircle. The year of issue "2018" and the mint mark "R" are in the upper right corner. In the lower right corner you can read the name of the artist "D. LONGO".
