The Tiberius Bridge was begun by Emperor Augustus in 14 A.D. and completed by Emperor Tiberius in 21 A.D. Built entirely of stone, it used oak piles driven into clay as its foundations, which are still perfectly preserved today. Conflicts, wars and raids have softened its contours, but it even withstood the mines of the retreating Germans during the last world war. This silver coin commemorates 2000 years of history, featuring on the reverse the Tiberius Bridge and a reproduction of an ancient coin bearing the effigy of the emperor Tiberius.
The obverse features the official coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino.
