San Marino will issue on 27 April the 2 euro 2023 BU commemorative coin for the 500th anniversary of the death of Perugino. Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, was one of the masters of the Italian Renaissance, an artist who greatly influenced his contemporaries and whose works still enchant anyone who sees them today. The Virgin and Child with St. Sebastian and St. John the Baptist", painted in 1493, is an oil painting on panel commissioned by Cornelia Salviati, widow of the Florentine merchant Giovanni Martini, for the chapel of the convent church of San Domenico in Fiesole .

The obverse of the coin depicts the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus, a detail of the painting "Virgin and Child Saint Sebastian and Saint John the Baptist" by Perugino, kept in the Uffizi Galleries (Florence). The inscription PERUGINO, the dates 1523 and 2023 and at the bottom the letter R identifying the Mint of Rome complete the coin on the left; on the right around the inscription SAN MARINO and below the initials of the author Maria Angela Cassol MAC. Around the twelve stars of the European Union.

Edge: striated and inscribed with a 2 followed by a star, all repeated six times, alternating right side and reverse.
