San-Marin is dedicating its second commemorative 2-euro coin of 2020 to the 250th anniversary of the death of the Rococo painter Gianbattista Tiepolo.
The coin features the bust of an angel on the left, a detail from the painting "Hagar and Ishmael in the Desert" of 1732. Tiepolo was the most important Venetian painter of the late Baroque and Rococo periods. The painting is in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice. The number "Tiepolo" and the workshop mark "R" of the Italian workshop in Rome are indicated at the top of the piece. The dates "1770" and "2020" and the issuing country "SAN MARINO" are shown below the design on the right. The initials of the author, Claudia Momoni CM, are visible in the lower left-hand corner.
Edge lettering: striated and inscribed with a 2 followed by a star, repeated six times, alternating obverse and reverse.
