Coin Pièce Cyprus 2 Bi-metallic 2020

Remarks:

Légère marque de cutter au coin de l'étui

This commemorative 2 euro coin was issued by Cyprus in 2020 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. This scientific institution, founded in 1990, plays a central role in medical research in Cyprus, particularly in the field of neurological and hereditary genetic diseases. Its anniversary represents a significant occasion for the issuance of an official commemorative coin.

The coin is struck in Proof quality, a high-quality minting standard that gives the reliefs a particularly refined finish and the fields a characteristic mirror-like appearance. This striking quality sets it apart from coins intended for general circulation and makes it a highly sought-after item among collectors.

From a technical standpoint, the coin is made of bimetallic material, in accordance with the standards of the 2 euro series of the eurozone. It has a diameter of 25.75 mm and a weight of 8.5 grams, dimensions also in line with the official specifications of 2 euro coins issued by European Union member states.

The national side, specific to the Cypriot issue, features a design related to the Institute of Neurology and Genetics, while the common side shared by all eurozone countries bears the standard 2 euro coin design. The edge of the coin features the inscriptions and stars characteristic of 2 euro coins.

The mintage is limited to 3,000 pieces, making it a particularly exclusive issue. This relative rarity, combined with the Proof quality and the commemorative nature of the issue, makes it an uncommon specimen in numismatic collections dedicated to Cypriot euro coins.
