This numismatic set includes all eight denominations of the first series of Monaco's euro coins, issued in 2001. Each coin has a face value ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros. The minting quality is BU, Brilliant Uncirculated, which means that the coins are struck with new tools, giving them a brilliant appearance and a quality of detail superior to that of regular circulation coins. These coins have never been in circulation.
The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins feature the coat of arms of Monaco. The 10, 20 and 50 cent coins feature the seal of the Monegasque State. The 1 and 2 euro coins display the portraits of Prince Rainier III and Hereditary Prince Albert, future Prince Albert II.
The issue of this set was limited to 20,000 copies. Each coin was struck with particular care to ensure its BU quality, making it a collector's item prized by numismatists. The coins are presented in a case specially designed to protect and showcase them.
The fineness of the coins, i.e. the composition of the metals used, complies with European standards for euro coins. The weight and diameter of each coin also comply with the technical specifications defined by the European Union.
