This 2 euro commemorative coin was issued by the Principality of Monaco in 2013. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of Monaco's admission to the United Nations (UN), which took place in 1993.
The coin is bimetallic, with a cupronickel center and a nickel-brass ring. It weighs 8.5 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin depicts a stylized world map, superimposed with a dove holding an olive branch in its beak. The dove is a universal symbol of peace. The inscription "MONACO" can be read at the top of the coin, as well as the years "1993" and "2013" separated by the inscription "ADMISSION À L'ONU".
The reverse of the coin is common to all 2 euro coins in circulation. It depicts a map of Europe, with the twelve stars of the European Union arranged in a circle. The face value "2 EURO" is indicated at the bottom, to the left of the map. The initials "LL" of the engraver Luc Luycx are also present.
The edge of the coin is finely milled and bears the inscription "2 **" repeated six times, alternately upright and inverted.
This coin was struck in Proof quality. The total mintage is 10,000 copies. The coin is supplied with a certificate of authenticity, but without case.
