This 2 euro coin, minted in 2015, is issued by the Principality of Monaco and depicts Prince Albert II. The coin is designed in bimetallism, combining two different alloys to create a visual and physical contrast. The center of the coin is made of nickel brass, an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc, while the outer ring is made of cupronickel, an alloy of copper and nickel. The total weight of the coin is 8.5 grams, and its diameter measures 25.75 millimeters, with a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Prince Albert II, sovereign of Monaco since 2005. The design is by Pierre Jauvaudin. The central portrait is surrounded by the twelve stars representing the European Union, arranged in a circle on the outer ring of the coin. The coin's quality is UNC (Uncirculated), meaning it has not been circulated and is therefore in near-mint condition.
The reverse of the coin, the work of Luc Luycx, displays a map of the European continent. This map is superimposed on a dynamic background composed of the twelve stars of the European Union, symbolizing the unity and dynamism of Europe. The edge of the coin is finely milled and bears the inscription "2" repeated six times, alternately upright and inverted. This edge feature is a security measure aimed at preventing counterfeiting and ensuring the coin's authenticity.
