The Maltese Carnival is synonymous with colour, masks, costumes, music and joy. To mark these celebrations, the Royal Dutch Mint has launched a colourful coin issue, commissioned by the Central Bank of Malta.
The 2.5 Euro 2024 "Karnival ta' Malta" Coincard is a real eye-catcher, thanks to its cheerful design: a perfect match for the festive event. The obverse of the card features the image of Maltese people dancing in colourful clothes. Colour, music and dance are important elements of the Maltese carnival. At the bottom of the card is the text "Karnival Ta' Malta", which means "Malta Carnival". On the right-hand side of the card are a number of shapes. The use of these shapes can also be seen on the reverse.
On the obverse of the coin, an animated figure looks up with his arms outstretched. On the head is a mask, a reference to the use of masks during the Maltese carnival. The text "2.5 Euro Karnival Ta' Malta" appears on the lower part of the coin. The logo of the Central Bank of Malta appears on the reverse.
