 "Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity." This declaration by Robert Schuman, dating from May 9, 1950, marks a major step towards the construction of a united Europe. Through the creation of the first supranational institution, the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), Europe embarked on an unprecedented process of peace and cooperation. This 2 euro commemorative coin celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration.
