This numismatic set contains all the current circulation coins of Ireland, ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros, issued in 2006.

Each coin has distinct characteristics in terms of dimensions, weight and metal composition. The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins are generally made of copper-plated steel. The 10, 20 and 50 cent coins are made from an alloy called "Nordic gold". The 1 and 2 euro coins are bimetallic, combining two different alloys.

The design of the Irish coins is uniform on all denominations. The obverse of each coin features the Celtic harp, a traditional symbol of Ireland, accompanied by the year "2006" and the word "Éire", the Irish name of the country. The design is the work of Jarlath Hayes.

The conservation status of the coins is "Brilliant Uncirculated" (BU), which means that they have been struck with special care and have a brilliance and surface quality superior to that of common circulation coins. BU coins are generally intended for collectors and are handled with care to avoid scratches or marks.
