The 20 Ghanaian Cedi note, issued in 2022, features significant iconography of national history and identity. On the obverse, there are busts of the six prominent figures of Ghanaian independence: Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey, and William Ofori Atta. These portraits are arranged on the right side of the note, emphasizing their central role in the country's attainment of autonomy.
In the center of the obverse, the Independence Arch stands as a strong symbol of Ghanaian sovereignty. The coat of arms of Ghana is positioned at the bottom center, while a lone star adorns the left side of the note. The inscriptions include "BANK OF GHANA" in capital letters, the face value "GH¢20", a legal declaration stating that the note is legal tender, as well as the words "TWENTY CEDIS" and the national motto "FREEDOM AND JUSTICE".
The reverse of the note depicts the Supreme Court building, located in the center left. This representation emphasizes the importance of the judicial system in the governance of Ghana. The dimensions of the note are 149 mm in length and 74 mm in width. All the visual and textual elements contribute to making this note a reflection of Ghana's values and history.
