In 2021, the Monnaie de Paris struck a new 1/4 ? coin in common metal depicting an animal drawn in a childish way.
In Chinese culture, this mythical animal symbolizes power, nobility and success. Those born under the sign of the Dragon are naturally charismatic people who are often lucky.
Surrounded by plum blossoms, a symbol widely used in Chinese history and art, as well as lanterns, the dragon is depicted in a childish way. The inscription "Year of the Dragon" followed by the year 2024 appears in the center of the coin. The ideogram of the dragon appears below.
On the reverse, all the animals of the Chinese zodiac are depicted in a childish way, distributed around the symbol of Ying and Yang. From 2018 to 2029, a complete cycle of the Chinese zodiac is formed. Each of these twelve years highlights an animal from this calendar. The face value is visible in the center of the coin and the mention "RF".
