 Erected in the 12th century under the impetus of Bishop Maurice de Sully, Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral is a jewel of Gothic architecture that has dominated the Île de la Cité for over eight centuries. This architectural masterpiece, characterized by its slender flying buttresses and flamboyant rose windows, testifies to the know-how of medieval builders and has been the scene of many major historical events, such as the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte.
 This year, the Monnaie de Paris honors the reopening to the public of Notre-Dame de Paris by striking a commemorative ?10 coin, engraving for eternity the lines of this jewel of Gothic art.
 The face of this coin represents a volume rendering of the west facade of the cathedral, with its rose window emerging between the two towers. The official logo of Notre-Dame de Paris also appears against the listel.
