The Euro 2006 coin set from France, issued by the Monnaie de Paris, is a numismatic collection comprising the French standard circulation coins for the year 2006. This set includes the eight different denominations, ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros.
The coins feature national designs specific to France. The national faces of the French euro coins display distinct motifs for the three series of values: the 1, 2, and 5 cent coins depict Marianne, symbol of the French Republic, with a Phrygian cap, in a composition by Fabienne Courtiade. The 10, 20, and 50 cent coins feature the sower, a classic motif of French iconography, revisited by Laurent Jorio. The 1 and 2 euro coins display a stylized tree, the work of Joaquin Jimenez, symbolizing life, growth, and permanence, surrounded by the motto "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité".
The year of issue, 2006, is engraved on each coin, as well as the twelve stars of the European flag, symbolizing the unity and solidarity of the member countries of the Eurozone. The total weight of the set, including the coins and packaging, is 95 grams.
