HIGH RELIEF STRIKE !

This coin features the graphic characteristics of the medal that was given to Daniel Morgan following the Battle of Cowpens. The original medal which illustrates Daniel Morgan's Victory on the obverse depicts him standing, preparing to be crowned by a Native American queen, an allegory of America; a female figure wearing a short cuirass and a headdress of feathers. The reverse shows the commander-in-chief leading the charge on horseback, followed by his troops on foot and overthrowing the fleeing English adversary. It is signed by the engraver Augustin Dupré, then holding the role of general engraver of the Monnaie de Paris.
