Description

This 2 euro commemorative coin, issued by France in 2025, celebrates Notre-Dame de Paris. The coin is struck with a Proof quality (BE).

The coin's composition is bimetallic, with a nickel brass center and a cupronickel ring. It weighs 8.5 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters, with a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.

The mintage of this edition is 20,000,000 copies in UNC (uncirculated) quality, 15,000 in BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) quality, and 15,000 in Proof quality (BE).

The face of the coin features a relief representation of the western facade of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, highlighting the rose window located between the two towers. The official Notre-Dame de Paris logo is also included, positioned against the rim.

The edge of the coin is reeded and bears the inscription "2" followed by two stars, repeated six times alternating upright and inverted.

The coin is presented in a capsule-sealed case, accompanied by a certificate.

Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral, erected in the 12th century under the aegis of Bishop Maurice de Sully, is an emblem of Gothic architecture that has dominated the Île de la Cité for more than eight centuries. This building, characterized by its flying buttresses and rose windows, testifies to the know-how of medieval builders. It has been the scene of major historical events, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte.
