This 2 euro coin, struck in Proof quality. Weighing 8.5 grams and with a diameter of 25.75 millimeters, it is composed of two distinct metals. The center of the coin is made of cupronickel, while the outer ring is made of nickel-brass, giving it its bimetallic nature.

The national face of this coin features a stylized tree, representing life, growth and continuity. This tree is framed by the French republican motto: "LIBERTÉ ? ÉGALITÉ ? FRATERNITÉ".

The common face, for its part, displays a map of Europe, accompanied by the face value of the coin, namely "2 EURO".

The edge of the coin is finely milled and bears the inscription "2 ? ?", repeated alternately.

This coin comes from an official 2002 French Proof set and has never been put into circulation. Proof quality is distinguished by specific characteristics: mirror fields obtained by meticulous polishing, particularly sharp matte reliefs, and a strike made with specially prepared dies. The mintage of this Proof edition is limited to 40,000 copies.
