This commemorative coin, struck in pure gold, is issued by France in 2025. It has a face value of 1000 euros.
The coin pays tribute to Napoleon I, Emperor of France and King of Italy, by evoking the Battle of Austerlitz. This major clash pitted the French armies against the forces of the Third Coalition, led by Francis I, Emperor of Austria and the Holy Roman Empire, and Alexander I, Tsar of Russia.
The obverse features portraits of Alexander I and Francis I facing Napoleon. The French Emperor is depicted victorious, on horseback, at dawn on the battlefield of Austerlitz. In the foreground, the Napoleonic legions are depicted marching towards the battlefield.
The reverse of the coin displays the face value of 1000 euros, surrounded by a crown composed of a laurel branch and an oak branch. The coin weighs 8 grams and has a diameter of 29 millimeters.
This coin is part of a collection honoring the three belligerents of the Battle of Austerlitz, nicknamed the "Battle of the Three Emperors".
