The 10-cent France coin, struck in Proof quality in 2002, is a collector's item from the Proof sets of the Monnaie de Paris. This coin has not been put into circulation and comes exclusively from the France 2002 Proof set.
Proof quality is characterized by finely polished mirror fields, sharp and contrasting matte reliefs, a strike made with specially prepared dies, and a finish superior to that of ordinary circulation coins.
The obverse of the coin features the Sower, an emblematic figure of the French Republic, symbolizing freedom, progress, and the transmission of republican values. The reverse features a map of Europe, accompanied by the face value "10 EURO CENT".
The coin is made of Nordic alloy, also called Nordic Gold. Its diameter is 19.75 millimeters and its weight is 4.10 grams. The edge of the coin is finely reeded.
