Description

This numismatic set presents all eight euro coin denominations issued by Finland in the year 2000, ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros. Each coin in this set is struck in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality, giving them a superior aesthetic appearance, characterized by a particular shine and accentuated detail clarity.

The 1, 2, and 5 cent coins are distinguished by their copper-plated steel composition. They feature the Finnish heraldic lion motif, an emblematic figure of the country, originally designed by sculptor Heikki Häiväoja. This motif is a reinterpretation of the former coat of arms of Finland.

The 10, 20, and 50 cent coins are made of Nordic gold, a specific alloy that gives them a distinctive golden color. These coins depict the same heraldic lion as the smaller denominations, ensuring visual continuity within the series.

The 1 euro and 2 euro coins are bimetallic. The 1 euro coin features a motif representing two birds flying over a lake landscape, a work by Pertti Mäkinen. The 2 euro coin features a design by Raimo Heino representing a cloudberry flower, a symbol of Finnish nature and its richness.

All the coins are presented in a specially designed box for the collection, ensuring their protection and showcasing them. The year of issue, 2000, marks an important date for Finland, which adopted the euro as its official currency at that time.
