This 2000 dram banknote, issued in 2018 by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, commemorates Tigran Petrosian, Armenian chess champion. The banknote is part of a commemorative series and is classified as being in Uncirculated (UNC) condition.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Tigran Petrosian superimposed on fragments illustrating key moments of his career, including winning games from the 9th World Chess Championship and a representation of his coronation. Inscriptions in Armenian and Latin identify the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, the year of issue (2018), and the face value of the banknote (2000 drams). The signatures of the Bank President and the Minister of Finance are also present. The serial number of the banknote is "BA03822385". Suren Simonyan is credited as the designer of this side.
The back of the banknote depicts the monument dedicated to Tigran Petrosian located in Yerevan, as well as the Chess House, with the city of Yerevan in the background. Repeated inscriptions in Armenian and Latin indicate the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia and the face value of 2000 drams. Suren Simonyan is also the designer of the back. The banknote's watermark reveals a portrait of Tigran Petrosian and the face value in numerals. A transparent crown-shaped window is also integrated into the banknote.
