As the Principality welcomes the world's best skiers from 11 to 16 March 2019, the Andorran government has chosen to mark the event by dedicating the first commemorative 2-euro banknote of 2019 to the competition. It features the official competition logo and a skier in full descent with several snowflakes in the background.
This year's coin, minted by the Monnaie de Paris, is expected to be issued in a mintage of 60,000. The volume of coins issued will fall from 75,000 in 2018 to 60,000 in 2019. The agreement between the French and Spanish mints concerning Andorran coins provides for the Monnaie de Paris to issue the coins alternately in odd-numbered years and the Real Casa de la Moneda in even-numbered years.
Edge: striated and inscribed with a 2 followed by two stars, all repeated six times, alternating obverse and reverse.
