The 2 euro commemorative coin issued by Andorra in 2024 is dedicated to the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. This bi-metallic coin features a nickel brass center and a cupro-nickel ring, with a weight of 8.5 grams and a diameter of 25.75 millimeters, for a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The central motif of the coin depicts a mountain biker in full action, hurtling down a steep slope. The upper part of the illustration displays the inscription "CAMPIONATS DEL MÓN UCI DE BTT", identifying the commemorated event. The issuing country, "ANDORRA", and the year of issue, "2024", are visually integrated into the design, appearing among splashes of mud and rock debris that evoke the rugged terrain of the course. The decor is completed by a rocky section on the left and a representation of a forest on the right, framing the central scene.
This coin commemorates Andorra hosting the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, which took place from August 28 to September 1 at Pal Arinsal Bike Park, located in La Massana. The event highlighted Andorra as a popular destination for mountain bike enthusiasts and high-level competitions. The mintage of this edition is limited to 60,000 copies in BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) quality.
The edge of the coin is reeded and bears the inscription repeated six times of the sequence "2" followed by two stars, alternating the orientation of the sequence with each repetition. This feature is common to 2 euro coins and contributes to their identification and security.
