This 2 euro commemorative coin, issued by Andorra in 2024, marks the centenary of skiing in the country.
The coin is made up of two distinct metal parts: a nickel brass center and a cupro-nickel outer ring, giving it a bimetallic appearance. It weighs 8.5 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 millimeters, with a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The main motif of the coin depicts a skier in action, hurtling down a snowy slope. The design captures movement and speed, with swirls of snow accentuating the impression of dynamism. The inscription "ANDORRA" and the year of issue "2024" are integrated into the design, blending into the snow swirls around the skier. This design commemorates the evolution of skiing in Andorra, which has helped shape the country's identity as a winter sports destination.
The edge of the coin is milled and bears the repeated inscription of the value "2", followed by two stars, all repeated six times alternating orientation, offering a distinctive and secure feature.
This commemorative edition is limited to 60,000 copies in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality, and is presented in official blister.
