Description

The obverse of the coin features a bust of Benjamin Franklin, a representation based on the sculpture by Jean-Antoine Houdon. An inscription runs along the upper edge, stating "Benjamin Franklin born in Boston January 17, 1706". The initials "RF" and the year "2025" are positioned on either side of the bust.
The reverse of the coin depicts a winged genius in the act of diverting lightning towards a lightning rod, symbolizing Benjamin Franklin's invention of the lightning rod. The genius is shown walking next to a broken scepter and crown. An inscription runs along the edge, bearing the inscription "He snatched the lightning from the sky and the scepter from tyrants". The face value of the coin and the hallmarks are located on the right side of the composition.
