This 50,000 meticais banknote was issued by the Bank of Mozambique in 1993. It belongs to the EH series and is referenced as P.138.
On the obverse, the banknote features a view of the Bank of Mozambique building. The seal of the Republic of Mozambique is also present. The face value, « CINQUENTA MIL METICAIS », is written out in full. The date of issue, « 16 DE JUNHO DE 1993 », and the place of issue, « Maputo », are also mentioned.
The reverse of the banknote depicts a hydroelectric dam, highlighting the importance of energy infrastructure for the country. The mention « REPÚBLICA DE MOÇAMBIQUE » is repeated, as well as the face value « CINQUENTA MIL METICAIS ». A legal warning is included: « A falsificação da moeda é punida nos termos da lei », meaning that the falsification of the currency is punishable by law.
