The reverse of the coin features a map of the European continent, superimposed on a dynamic background composed of the twelve stars of the European Union. This motif was created by the engraver Luc Luycx.
The bimetallic composition is detailed as follows: the center consists of three layers of nickel brass (75% copper, 20% zinc, 5% nickel), nickel, and again nickel brass. The ring is made of cupronickel, with a proportion of 75% copper and 25% nickel.
