Description
This 2 euro coin commemorates the year 2020 and features the portrait of Prince Albert II of Monaco. It is intended for circulation and was minted in UNC (Uncirculated) quality.
The coin is bimetallic, with a center made of nickel brass and a ring made of cupronickel. Its weight is 8.5 grams, with a diameter of 25.75 millimeters and a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features the twelve stars of the European Community arranged in a crown. In the center is a representation of Prince Albert II, sovereign of Monaco since 2005. The design of this obverse is attributed to the engraver Pierre Jauvaudin.
The reverse of the coin features a map of the European continent, superimposed on a dynamic background composed of the twelve stars of the European Union. This motif was created by the engraver Luc Luycx.
The bimetallic composition is detailed as follows: the center consists of three layers of nickel brass (75% copper, 20% zinc, 5% nickel), nickel, and again nickel brass. The ring is made of cupronickel, with a proportion of 75% copper and 25% nickel.
