Coin Monaco 2 euros Albert II (circulation) - 2020

This 2 euro coin commemorates the year 2020 and features the portrait of Prince Albert II of Monaco. It is intended for circulation and was struck in UNC (Uncirculated) quality.

The coin is bimetallic, with a Nordic gold centre and a cupronickel ring. It weighs 8.5 grams, with a diameter of 25.75 millimetres and a thickness of 2.20 millimetres.

The obverse of the coin features the twelve stars of the European Community arranged in a wreath. At the centre, there is a representation of Prince Albert II, sovereign of Monaco since 2005. The design of this obverse is attributed to the engraver Pierre Jauvaudin.

The reverse of the coin displays a map of the European continent, superimposed on a dynamic background composed of the twelve stars of the European Union. This motif was created by the engraver Luc Luycx.

The bimetallic composition is as follows: the centre consists of three layers of Nordic gold (75% copper, 20% zinc, 5% nickel), nickel, and Nordic gold again. The ring is made of cupronickel, with a proportion of 75% copper and 25% nickel.
