The 2018 commemorative 2 euro coin, issued by the Principality of Monaco, features Prince Albert II. This coin is intended for general circulation.
The coin is composed of two distinct metals. The center is made of nickel brass, while the outer ring is made of cupronickel. It weighs 8.5 grams and its diameter is 25.75 millimeters, with a thickness of 2.20 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a representation of Prince Albert II, sovereign of Monaco since 2005, sitting on his throne. The outer ring of the coin is adorned with the twelve stars symbolizing the European Union. The engraver of this face is Pierre Jauvaudin.
The reverse of the coin displays a map of the European continent, superimposed on a dynamic background consisting of the twelve stars of the European Union. Luc Luycx is the engraver responsible for this representation.
The edge of the coin is finely milled and features the inscription "2" repeated six times, alternately oriented upright and inverted. The striking orientation is of the medal type.
This coin was minted with UNC (Uncirculated) quality, which means that it has not circulated and is in optimal conservation condition.
