Delivered in an official coincard. To mark the 35th anniversary of the ERASMUS program, a common commemorative 2 Euro coin is being minted by all the countries of the European Union. The design by Joaquin Jimenez, general engraver at the Monnaie de Paris, won the competition organized by the European Commission. The design is a blend of two major elements of the Erasmus program: the original intellectual inspiration of Erasmus itself, and the allegory of its influence on Europe. The former is symbolized by one of Erasmus' best-known representations. The latter is symbolized by a bundle of links crossing the room from beacon to beacon, representing the many intellectual and human exchanges between European students. In reference to Europe, some of these links form other stars born of synergy between countries. The 35th anniversary figure 35 emerges from the stars in a contemporary graphic style. Non-contractual visual Edge: striated and insculpted with a 2 followed by two stars, all repeated six times, alternating right side and reverse.  "
