The central banks of the three Baltic countries - Latvijas Banka Lietuvos bankas and Eesti Pank - are issuing a commemorative 2-euro coin with the same design in 2018. The coin is intended to be a symbol of the determination of the Baltic nations to defend their independence. It also aims to show the unity of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and their willingness to cooperate for their independence and freedom.

An identical coin is issued for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, but each country's name is given in its national language, Eesti Latvija or Lietuva. The coats of arms of the three countries are engraved at the top of the braid.
