The 10 cent coins feature a representation of the Birth of Venus, inspired by Sandro Botticelli's famous painting. The 20 cent coins present a futuristic sculpture, reflecting the Italian art of the 20th century. The 50 cent coins reproduce the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, a symbol of ancient Rome.

The 1 euro coins display the Vitruvian Man, a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci representing the ideal proportions of the human body.
