This numismatic set includes all eight euro coin denominations issued by France in 2006, ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros. Each coin features the technical and aesthetic characteristics defined by European regulations in force at the time of their issuance.
The 1, 2, and 5 cent coins are struck in copper-plated steel. They feature the design of Marianne, symbol of the French Republic, whose graphics are signed by Fabienne Courtiade. The face value of the coin is inscribed to the left of the main motif. The whole is surrounded by the twelve stars of the European flag.
The 10, 20, and 50 cent coins are made of 'Nordic gold', an alloy of copper, aluminum, zinc, and tin. They feature the motif of the sower, an allegorical figure created by Oscar Roty. The sower is depicted sowing against the wind. The face value is indicated at the bottom left, and the year of issue is on the right. The twelve European stars complete the perimeter.
The 1 and 2 euro coins are bimetallic. The 1 euro coin is composed of a center in cupro-nickel (copper-nickel) and a ring in brass (copper-zinc). The 2 euro coin has an inverse composition, with a center in brass and a ring in cupro-nickel. The common design to these two values represents a stylized tree in a hexagon, surrounded by the republican motto 'Liberté Égalité Fraternité'. The twelve European stars are arranged on the outer ring.
All coins are presented in an official box issued by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint). This box ensures the protection and conservation of the coins in their original 'Brilliant Uncirculated' (BU) condition.
