This gold commemorative coin, with a face value of 200 euros, is issued in 2025. It pays tribute to the Battle of Austerlitz and the key figures involved.
The coin is struck in pure gold, with a weight of 31.104 grams and a diameter of 37 millimeters. Its design highlights the historical significance of the battle and its protagonists.
The obverse of the coin features portraits of Alexander I, Tsar of Russia, and Francis I, Emperor of Austria and the Holy Roman Emperor. These portraits face that of Napoleon, depicted victorious on horseback, on the battlefield of Austerlitz. The background of this scene shows Napoleon's legions marching in formation towards the battlefield.
The reverse of the coin is inspired by the original medal struck in 1806 to celebrate Napoleon's victory at Austerlitz. The central motif includes a winged scepter topped with a statuette of Charlemagne, accompanied by lightning bolts. This composition evokes the ancient imperial imagery associated with Napoleon I.
This coin is a tribute to the Battle of the Three Emperors, Austerlitz, highlighting the strategic importance of Napoleon and his legions against the armies of the Third Coalition.
