The 10,000 Francs banknote, issued by the Banque de France in 1956, is a specimen from the K.28 series. It pays tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, an emblematic figure in French history, through representations of his person and symbols associated with his reign.
On the front, the banknote features a bust of Napoleon Bonaparte facing right. The Arc de Triomphe appears on the left, while floral, plant, and fruit representations adorn the whole. Instruments such as lyres, horns, and trumpets are also present, as well as a palette and a parchment. The face value of "DIX MILLE FRANCS" is clearly indicated, as is the name of the issuing institution, the Banque de France. The front is signed by André Marliat (Engraver) and Clément Serveau (Designer).
The back of the banknote features a bust of Napoleon Bonaparte, this time facing left, with many flags in the background. The Invalides Church is depicted on the right. The face value is repeated, and the mention of the Banque de France is also present. A legal warning is inscribed, recalling the penal sanctions incurred in the event of counterfeiting or falsification of banknotes. The back is signed by Robert Armanelli (Engraver) and Clément Serveau (Designer).
The banknote's watermark represents Bonaparte's head in profile. The dimensions of the banknote are 172 mm in length and 92 mm in width. The inscriptions are written in the Latin alphabet.
