The 1/2 Franc Semeuse coin, minted in France, is a fractional coin with a nominal value of half a franc. This coin is made of nickel and weighs 4.5 grams. Its diameter is 19.5 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features the Semeuse (the Sower), an allegorical symbol of the French Republic. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed on this face. The signature of the engraver, Louis-Oscar Roty, is also present.
The reverse of the coin depicts an olive branch positioned under the face value "1/2 FRANC". The national motto "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE" encircles this whole. The year of issue, 1990, is also on this side. Louis-Oscar Roty is also the engraver of this side of the coin.
The edge of the coin is reeded. This coin was issued in several years, with variations in the engraver's signature on the obverse.
