The 1983 1/2 Franc Semeuse coin is a French coin. Its composition is nickel, giving it a characteristic silver color. It weighs 4.5 grams and has a diameter of 19.5 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features the Sower, an allegorical figure emblematic of the French Republic. This representation is signed by O. Roty. There are two variants of this coin, differentiated by the engraver's signature: the first, referenced KM#931.1, simply bears the signature "O. Roty", while the second, KM#931.2, has the signature preceded by "D'AP". The inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is also present on this face.
The reverse of the coin features an olive branch, a symbol of peace and prosperity. The face value, "1/2 FRANC", is inscribed above the branch. The national motto, "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE", encircles the central motif. As with the obverse, the reverse is engraved by Louis-Oscar Roty.
The edge of the coin is reeded, offering a distinctive texture to the touch.
This coin was issued in a FDC (Fleur de Coin) set, which indicates that it is in exceptional condition, having practically not circulated and retaining its original shine.
