Description

The 1/2 Franc Semeuse coin, minted in 1988, is a division of the French franc. It is made of nickel and weighs 4.5 grams with a diameter of 19.5 millimeters. The edge of the coin is reeded.

The obverse of the coin depicts the Sower, an allegorical figure associated with the French Republic. The inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" accompanies this representation. The signature of the engraver Louis-Oscar Roty is present.

The reverse of the coin features an olive branch located below the face value of "1/2 FRANC", all framed by the republican motto "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE". The year of issue, "1988", also appears on this side. Louis-Oscar Roty is also the engraver of the reverse.
