This banknote with a face value of 10,000 francs was issued by Burundi in 2004. It belongs to the B-T series and features red and purple prints, complemented by multicoloured underprints.
On the front of the note are the busts of Prince Rwagasore and President Ndadaye positioned on the left. In the centre, the coat of arms of Burundi is highlighted. The country's flag is visible in the upper right corner. The inscriptions are written in French and Kirundi, the two official languages. A transparent dove-shaped element is integrated into the lower right corner. A wrapped security thread is incorporated into the note, as well as a metallic foil in the shape of a bird located in the upper left. Serial numbers are printed in black and orange.
The back of the note depicts three students in a classroom, with the Burundian flag in the background. A jug is depicted on the right. As on the front, the text is bilingual, in French and Kirundi.
This 2004 10,000 Burundian franc banknote provides an overview of Burundi's national symbols and historical figures, while highlighting the importance of education. The integrated security features demonstrate the measures taken to prevent counterfeiting.
