On the front, the banknote highlights the portrait of Louis Rwagasore, a prominent figure as the first Prime Minister of Burundi. It also features the inscriptions "BANQUE DE LA REPUBLIQUE DU BURUNDI" and "IBANKI YA REPUBLIKA Y'BURUNDI", repeated in both official languages. The national motto, "UBUMWE IBIKORWA AMAJAMBERE" (Unity, Work, Progress), is also present. The signatures of the 2nd Vice-Governor and the Governor are affixed, with the issue date of May 1, 2010. The back of the banknote is mainly purple, with multicoloured underprints. The central scene depicts four men engaged in the construction of a house. The coat of arms of Burundi is visible in the lower left, while a banana tree (Musa sp.) is depicted on the right. The national motto "UBUMWE, IBIKORWA, AMAJAMBERE" is repeated, followed by its French translation "UNITE - TRAVAIL - PROGRESS". The face value "100" is displayed.
