The 20 kwacha banknote issued by the Bank of Zambia in 2024 features a complex design and advanced security features. It measures 124 mm long and 69 mm wide. The front of the note is mainly printed in shades of purple and blue, with inscriptions in English.
Graphic elements include the Bank of Zambia logo, a floral pattern serving as a registration device, a depiction of a tractor plowing a field, and a fish eagle in flight. A map of Zambia is also visible, made with optically variable ink (OVI). The coat of arms of Zambia is also present. The note incorporates a windowed security thread with the demetallized Bank of Zambia logo and the value ?20?.
The back of the note, also in English, features a water buffalo and a candelabra tree, as well as two standing antelopes. Chishimba Falls are also depicted, along with a floral pattern. The banknote's watermark depicts a fish eagle with the electrotype ?20?, as well as another fish eagle.
The banknote was printed by Giesecke+Devrient, a company located in Leipzig, Germany. The inscriptions on the front include the promise of payment to the bearer of twenty kwacha by the Bank of Zambia. The back displays the national motto ?ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION? and the face value ?TWENTY KWACHA?.
